HALL NAMED AFTER SCIENTIST HOVHANNES ADAMYAN WAS OFFICIALLY OPENED IN YSU

On 9 February, the official opening ceremony of a hall named after renowned scientist Hovhannes Adamyan  was held in the 5th floor of the library building of YSU . 

The hall is renovated and furnished by “Rostelecom” and is aimed to create an environment, where besides organizing events and conferences students will be inspired by the great scientist’s invention and achievements. 

YSU Rector Aram Simonyan,General Director of “Rostelecom” in Armenia Hayk Faramazyan, other representatives and guests were present at the ceremony. The day was chosen to highlight fact that  February 5 was the birthday of a talented Armenian scientist Hovhannes Adamyan(1879-1932), who had dreamed of creating and running a device of color images in his homeland. 

It was in 1925, that he created and showed the world’s first “far-sighted” tricolor imaging device in turned on, which took place in YSU special laboratory. A similar technology was introduced in Europe only three years later.

Today “Rostelecom” in Armenia provides its all customers with smart television services  with the latest technological solutions in Armenia, and this can be considered as current development of Hovhaness Adamyan’s invention.

Thanks to “Rostelecom” residents of Yerevan and the regions have the opportunity to watch the most popular TV channels and enjoy latest facilities thanks to TV modern system.

Such television systems are operating in over 20 countries: The USA, China, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Belarus, Singapore, Indonesia, the CIS and other countries. The cooperation between “Rostelecom” in Armenia and YSU will be continuous and will  give new vision to the implementation of joint projects and programs.


Hovhannes Adamyan

H. Adamyan received 21 patents in the areas of television and telegraphy (Germany, Britain, France, and Russia).

In 1918,  he created the first device, which was reported and displaying black and white images (static images) in Russia, a major achievement in development of television. In the period of 1945-1951 in the United States, Colombia(CBS) Radio company made a trial show of TV and in 1951-1953 Adamyan system was adopted as a stable system and used to display color images.

In 1925, he created and showed the world’s first “far-sighted” tricolor imaging device in action, which took place in YSU special laboratory. Those years Hovhannes Adamyan was a lecturer at Armenia “mother” University and with his activity has created one of the golden pages in the history of the University.

Hovhannes Adamyan who studied in the universities of Munich, Berlin, Zurich was fluent in several European languages, technical sciences studied painting and architecture in parallel.
