TECHNOLOGICAL WEEKEND WAS HELD IN YEREVAN

On July 11-12 technological weekend was held in Yerevan. It was a real fest for all Armenian startups and teams, creative and innovative youth. Everybody was gathered for the IBM BlueMix cloud hackathon, Slush 2015 Global Impact Accelerator contest and interesting presentations about innovative solutions. The event was organized by Enterprise Incubator Foundation in the framework of IBM Innovative solutions and technology center. “Nikita Mobile”, “Rostelecom” Armenia companies and “Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine” charity foundation were the partners of the event.

Vulpex and Simplex among 11 teams participating in IBM BlueMIx hackathon became the winners and got 500.000 dr prize. Brainstorm team got two smartphones as an encouraging prize.

“It is encouraging that despite the young age all participants came up with interesting and innovative solutions, and IBM Bluemix platform gave them the opportunity to showcase their own ideas”,- said CEO of “Rostelecom” Armenia, Hayk Faramazyan.

“It was a very interesting contest, which encouraged the teams to work harder and as a result there was a serious competition. Generally the hackathon based on cloud platform always makes the team think in a new way and acquire new knowledge”,- mentioned the member of Simplex team, Nairi Narinyan. The team had created a social music platform, where amateur music fans from different corners of the world could participate in the process of music creation.

During the weekend for the first time the local contest for Slush 2015 Global Impact Accelerator was organized for Armenian startups. 11 teams took part in the contest. The best teams Paqqy, Renderforest and Chally got the opportunity to participate in the Slush International Contest on 11-12 November in Finland. Armenian startups will meet leading international investors, directors and develop their business at the event.

IBM Innovation Solutions and Technology Center (ISTC) is the joint project of IBM Company, USAID, Government of Republic of Armenia and EIF. The aim of the project is to help educational institutions quickly identify and adapt to the new demands of the talent market.
