"ROSTELECOM" FACILITATES CREATING JOBS IN GORIS
"Rostelecom" in Armenia development programs include not only telecommunication sphere, but also aimed at the development and expansion of communities through creation of new jobplaces.
One of these projects was implemented with the woman's "Resource Center" foundation in Goris aimed at securing the employment of women and entrepreneurship at two social enterprises such as "Goris Kroshe" (production of handmade toys) and "From Wool to Carpet" (production of wool processed to natural fibers, carpet productions).
The project was aimed at creating new jobs for the needy, disabled and woman with many children as well as single 30 woman of the community to provide with stable jobs and income through the year.
Besides, near Goris, more than 20 schoolchildren from Shinuhayr community will attend traditional crafting courses such as carpet weaving, crocheting, handcrafting.
“Cooperation with Syunik Women Development Resource Center is very important step for "Rostelecom" in Armenia, as we not only build foundation preservation and development of traditional craft in the region, but also facilitate creating new stable jobs, and ensure employment for women in the whole community.
Another important achievement is education for schoolchildren within the program which will make them stay in the region by providing employment for them in future", said General Director of "Rostelecom" in Armenia Hayk Faramazyan.
Syunik Woman Resource Center founded in 2014 and has the mission to increase the role and competitiveness of women in social, economic and political spheres both locally and nationally.
"Social entrepreneurship has become very popular recently and we are actively working to involve women in the community and regions in such initiatives. Due to our partner "Rostelecom" sponsorship, we raised sources which will enable woman to work in upcoming months", mentioned Woman Development Resource Center head of board Armine Hovakimyan.
Syuink region is located in the south of Armenia and is one of the regions with high level of poverty and unemployment with 70% of woman being unemployed.
"In one of our initiatives we have created all conditions for the Wool processing chain from fiber to carpet".
This production provides jobs for woman in Shinuhayr community, who are not leaving their home places to get employed. It should be mentioned that the wool carpet production process is of great interest among tourists and we are developing packages for tourism activation in the region," added General Director of Development Resource Center Ruzanna Toruzyan
