EXPECTED ACTIVITY IN VANADZOR TECHNOLOGY CENTER. “ROSTELECOM” SPONSORED “BARCAMP” NON-CONFERENCE IN VANADZOR

On November 6 with support of “Rostelecom” “Barcamp” informal conference (non-conference) devoted to IT, Internet and New media related topics took place in “Vanadzor technological center” (VTC).

“New technologies have already penetrated into our everyday life and each of us can participate in the process of their development, presenting themselves and sharing their ideas in the framwork of such conferences and non-conferences. “Rostelecom” uses the latest technologies as we highlight the importance of every innovative solution, new technology and new idea. Here in Vanadzor technological center one needs just desire and aspiration. This is already reality and and VTC with its infrastructures creates opportunities for the further development of many technological ideas and solutions. I am sure today we will have productive and interesting day in the framework of “Barcamp”. I have even marked out some discussions for me”,- mentioned CEO of “GNC-ALFA” CJSC, “Rostelecom” in Armenia Hayk Faramazyan during the official opening ceremony of the conference.

In the framework of “Barcamp” there were introduced “partisipative” workshop-events, which were open for everybody and according to the conference format there was no audience and everybody participated.

The aim of holding the project in Vanadzor was to contribute to the formation and development of electronic urban society as well as to the integration of the youth in the process of technology development. It was important to create appropriate environment and opportunities for the information knowledge increase and skill development of active layers of society and professional groups, at the same time contributing to the cooperation between individuals and companies acting in the information and media spheres.

The event was organized by remarkable partners "Enterprise Incubator Foundation" (EIF) and "Vanadzor technological center» (VTC), sponsor "Rostelecom" in Armenia, as well as "BarCamp Yerevan" and "BarCamp Gyumri" teams as supporters .

Businessmen, company directors, specialists, programmers, designers, lecturers, students, bloggers, journalists, online publishers, active network people or just curious people and, all those who create the new generation of World Wide Web were targeted by the organizers.


What is BarCamp?

BarCamp is a brand new event, originated in the Silicon Valley of USA in 2005 that has become widespread throughout the world.

BarCamp is usually a "non-conference"format in the sphere of information technology or "IT," new media and Internet. A "non-conference" is the unofficial, informal part of the conference supporting open discussions and a free exchange of ideas and opinions.

The philosophy of BarCamp is the following: participants themselves have presentations, with no formally invited guest speakers and without the formality of traditional conference. Most revealing, the schedule of events is made up by the participants of the conference and is formed only after the conference opens, as participants add the presentations they want to hold on a white board.

"BarCamp Yerevan" was first held on April 17-19, 2009. Armenian IT and new media specialists fell in love with the new type of "unconference" and each successive BarCamp, in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 attracted more and more people. In 2009 we only had 400 participants. Last year, in 2015, the number of developers, hackers, geeks, bloggers, journalists and online activists reached 2500.(Website: http://www.barcamp.am/)

The first ever BarCamp near to us was organized in Kiev in October 2007. It brought together about 300 people from Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, and other countries from the region and featured around 45 presentations.

After “BarCamp Kiev”, there was "BarCamp Baltics" in Riga (February 2008) and "Barcamp Caucasus" in Tbilisi (June 2008). The wave of BarCamps continues.

The main target audience of the BarCamp are engineers/developers/programmers of all flavors, project managers, entrepreneurs, new media activists, designers, educators and all professionals who are building the next generation Web.
 

The procedure
Unlike traditional conferences, here the agenda is formed by the participants and gets a final shape only some minutes before the event opens. Participants put their topics of reports in order on the stand mentioning the hours.
