MUSEUM-COMMUNITY COOPERATION ENHANCEMENT AND SMART SOLUTIONS IN ART: LAUNCH OF THE “RUSSIAN PAINTERS AND PARIS”PROJECT

On November 5, 2018 educational project “Russian painters and Paris” was launched at COAF SMART center in Debet community, Lori.

The project, which was held by the initiative of Russian Art Museum (prof. A. Abrahamyan’s collection) and with the support of “Rostelecom” Armenia and Children of Armenia Foundation (COAF), is aimed to enhance museum-community cooperation, familiarize children with the outstanding authors of Russian Art Museum collection who lived and worked in Paris, through interactive seminar and linogravure (linocut) master class.

Linogravure master class was conducted by artist Sargis Hovhannisyan after presenting a brief overview of the process.

 

The project was implemented for the painting groups of the Mets Ayrum community and the COAF SMART Center in Lori region, creating an environment in which each person finds their own painting and color.

As part of the second phase of the project, a cognitive visit of the participants to the Russian Art Museum is planned.

Such collaboration and format is aimed to rise interest towards museum culture among schoolchildren, to teach artistic nuances and to give them the opportunity to reproduce artwork with their own hands.


Children of Armenia Foundation (COAF)


Children of Armenia Foundation is a charity organization aimed to improve the rural life in Armenia through child-oriented community development projects. The implementation of the Foundation's comprehensive program model started in 2004, and since then educational, health, social and economic projects have been realized, as well as infrastructures vital for communities have been reconstructed. Beneficiaries of these projects are more than 75,000 residents from 44 communities in Armavir, Aragatsotn, Lori, Gegharkunik, Shirak and Tavush regions.

Since 2015 COAF has developed and is implementing a new vision - SMART Initiative. SMART provides progress through education for the rural world, beneficial for individuals, society and the environment. SMART has become a model of development and is expected to be duplicated in other regions and communities of Armenia.

The first SMART center was opened in Lori region to serve about 150.000 local residents.

The Museum of Russian Art in Yerevan (Prof. A. Abrahamyan's collection)
Situated in the capital city (address: Isahakyan 38, near Cascade) it has been working for about 30 years, introducing its visitor to the late 19th-early 20th century Russian art (painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative-applied and theatrical design art) with a collection of world significance, great historical and artistic value.

The museum exhibition includes works of such painters as K. Korovin, V. Serov, M. Vrubel, M. Nesterov, A. Benua, Z. Serebryakova, B. Kustodiev, A. Golovin, E. Lanseren, M. Voloshin, K. Petrov-Vodkin, N. Rerikh, R. Falk, P. Konchalovski, M. Saryan, P. Kuznecov, A. Lentulov, S. Sudeykin, A. Tishler and others.

The Museum of Russian Art (Prof. A. Abrahamyan's collection) in Yerevan was founded based on the private collection of prof. A. Abrahamyan. This donation to its historical homeland Armenia was the greatest expression of his patriotism.

The museum staff has implemented such educational projects as “My home is my castle”, “Four seasons”, “Zoo”, “Guess the picture”, “Art, types, genres, technique”. They have been held since 2015 and are of great interest and demand. Due to the projects museum hosts about 350 preschool and school-age children monthly.
