“ROSTELECOM” IN ARMENIA SUMS UP THE RESULTS OF THE FIRST PHASE OF “TECHNOLOGIES FOR LIFE-MORE OPPORTUNITIES” CONTEST FOR JOURNALISTS

On May 24, 2016 “Rostelecom” in Armenia summed up the results of the first phase of “Technologies for life-more opportunities” contest for journalists in the central sales and service center of the company.

The contest was launched in November, 2015 and is held to get the attention of Media and bloggers on objective and better coverage of innovative technologies and services and their applications in different spheres of society. As in the previous year the contest is held with two phases.

“Today we highlight the importance of IT in different spheres. Therefore, it is of utmost importance on the side of journalists to present relevant information and comments on IT. We hope this year too there will be applications from journalists that will win the second phase this year as well and they will have the opportunity to visit China and get acquainted with the latest technological solutions in the international arena.”- mentioned Hayk Faramazyan, General Director of “GNC-ALFA” CJSC, “Rostelecom” in Armenia.

All participants of the contest were awarded with “Rostelecom” Smart boxes with 3 months’ free subscription payment. Journalists can watch Smart television with the use of Smart boxes everywhere with access to internet and television.

During the event all participants of the first phase were awarded with diplomas, and the winners with the highest scores will compete with Russian journalists for the first prize – the visit to headquarters of ZTE Corporation in Shenzhen (China) in fall.

Three journalists with highest scores are Anna Qeshishyan (“Do not give away potato crusts”, Ararat TV), Vanuhi Avagyan (“Armenia has become a serious competitor on the international IT platform”, Yerkir Media TV), Inna Verlinskaya (“New ArmTab and ArmPhone will soon appear in the Armenian market”).
 

About the contest “Technologies for life-more opportunities”

The competition is held among Armenian and Russian journalists with two phases to get the attention of Media and bloggers on objective and better coverage of innovative technologies and services and their applications in different spheres of society.

Five winners of two phases will have the opportunity to visit ZTE Company’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China in fall 2016. More than 500 mass media representatives from Russia and Armenia each year participate in the project.

The contest is held among all representatives of media that illustrate the scope of IT: print media (newspapers, magazines); radio and television; online media (including news Agencies); social media (bloggers).

The applications for participation were accepted on the official website of the contest- www.smi.rt.ru . The deadline for applications was April 10, 2016. More information about the competition can be found on the following link: www.smi.rt.ru.

Members of the contest Armenian jury (first phase) were representatives from IT institutions:

  • Emil Tarasyan- Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.
  • Bagrat Yengibaryan- Director of Enterprise Incubator Foundation
  • Karen Vardanyan- Executive Director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises of Armenia
  • Siranush Gyurjinyan-Head of Public Relations Unit of “Rostelecom” Armenia

The competition among Russian journalists is being held for the fifth time. It became international after the participation of Armenian journalists in 2014-2015.
