“ROSTELECOM” IN ARMENIA AWARDED FITNESS APPLICATION DEVELOPERS

On November 10-11 “Smarter Armenia '16” hackathon took place in the Innovative Solutions and Technologies Center (ISTC) in the framework of which “Rostelecom” awarded “Triple-E” team for developing a fitness application. The application gives the opportunity to choose the appropriate video-recording based on the body structure, sex, weight and other characteristics. In the future “Rostelecom” plans to include it in its Smart TV application section.

The two-day hackathon gave young Armenian beginners and programmers the opportunity not only to develop a solution in healthcare, telecommunication and financial spheres, but also to get acquainted with IBM Bluemix cloud solutions and IBM Watson, to create new innovations and improve their already developed solutions with IBM technologies.

The winners were awarded in the following 5 nominations:

• For the nomination «The best solution in the telecommunication sphere» the winner was «Triple-E» team awarded by «Rostelecom» in Armenia with $1000
• For the nomination «The best solution in the financial sphere» the winner was «Finely» team. «Finely» got $1000 from Ardshinbank.
• Enterprise Incubator Foundation and Ingo Armenia insurance company awarded «Yamaka» team with $1000 for the nomination «The best solution in healthcare sphere»
• There was a special prize by ISTC for the nomination of the most innovative solution using IBM Bluemix. The winner «ArmSol» team got $500
• Two teams - «Worst ever team» and ArmSol got a special prize for the best utilization of IBM Watson and BlueMix. The teams got the opportunity to join IBM Global Enterpreneur project and get USD120.000 credit to use cloud services.

13 startup teams took part in «Smarter Armenia '16» hackathon, who had developed applicatons from fitness chatbots up to solutions designed for chlidren who suffer from autism. The jury with representatives from «GNC-ALFA» CJSC («Rostelecom in Armenia»), Ardshinbank, Ingo Armenia insurance, IBM and Granatus Venturse companies voted to grant the winners.

«Smarter Armenia '16» hackathon was organized in Armenia for the first time by ISTC Innovative Solutions and Technologies Center, IBM, Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF), and United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Partners of the event were «GNC-ALFA» CJSC («Rostelecom» in Armenia), Ardshinbank, and Ingo Armenia insurance.
 

About ISTC Innovative Solutions and Technologies Center

The establishment of Innovative Solutions and Technologies Center (ISTC) in Armenia is aimed at providing state-of-the-art facilities and latest technological solutions by IBM, including hardware and software necessary for conducting trainings, research and business development activities in various directions. This is a joint project by the Government of Armenia, Enterprise Incubator Foundation, IBM, United States Agency for International Development (USAID)and Yerevan State University. The Government of Armenia, IBM and YSU are acting as resource partners and EIF is acting as an implementation partner.
Situated on the 6th floor of Yerevan State University 7th building the center occupies about 100 m2 area equipped with modern technologies, entirely completed with IBM technological solutions. The center offers innovative environment for begginer teams and companies providing them with working area, infrastructure, technological and business consulting, as well as the opportunity to establish new contacts.
