HENCE FORTH FRENCH TV5MONDE CHANNEL IS AVAILABLE FOR ALL “ROSTELECOM” SUBSCRIBERS. FRENCH AMBASSADOR TO ARMENIA VISITED HEADQUARTERS OF “ROSTELECOM” ARMENIA
In the framework of Francophone Days in Armenia French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lacote visited the headquarters of "Rostelecom" Armenia.
In the framework of his visit, French Ambassador and the CEO of "Rostelecom" Armenia, Hayk Faramazyan discussed the importance of French language and dissemination of French language information sources in Armenia and the actions taken in this direction. In particular, they talked about the importance of broadcasting French speaking TV channels via "Rostelecom" Armenia Smart TV services, and the provision of French-language films for public.
“After the decision of “Rostelecom” Armenia to include TV5Monde in the basic packages for individuals and corporate clients, I decided to visit company’s headquarters. This corresponds to the idea of making TV5 broadcasting universal designed by the Linguistic Pact, which was signed by Armenia in 2012. TV5 airs programs and stories from all over the Francophone world, and it is the TV operator of the International Organization of Francophone and its member states. In this regard TV5Monde is an Armenian TV channel too, and will provide wide coverage for the Francophone Summit that will take place in Yerevan this October. We express our gratitude to "Rostelecom" Armenia for the initiative and welcome this step, which is aimed at the general, free and long-term broadcasting of TV5Monde in Armenia”,- noted French Ambassador to Armenia, Jonathan Lacote.
"As an Armenian company we highlight the importance of holding Francophone Summit in Armenia and we express our support by including French language TV channels, among them the official channel of the International Organization of Francophone - TV5Monde, in TV channel list. It is worth mentioning that it has been available to all "Rostelecom" tariff plan subscribers since February. Broadcasting of foreign language TV channels via our Smart TV highly contributes to raising public awareness and educating. Considering the great demand, from 2013 onwards we have included France 24 in our channel list, and from the half of 2017 TV5Monde as well. Our customers have the opportunity to watch TV channels via our Smart TV not only in Armenian, but also in eight more languages, such as Russian, English, French, German, Polish, Arabic, Italian, Turkish. Mentioned content was designed in accordance with our customers’ needs and recommendations, and we will keep updating this list periodically”, -said the CEO of "Rostelecom" Armenia, Hayk Faramazyan.

International Francophone Days and weeks
The International Francophone day is celebrated on March 20 in honor of the agreement signed on March 20, 1970 in Niamey. Around this date francophone weeks are organized in France, Armenia and all over the world, to celebrate French language and Francophone cultures’ fest through cultural and linguistic events.
In October 2018 Armenia will host the 17th summit of member states and governments of the International Organization of Francophone. In order to promote the French and Francophone cultures among Armenians, French Embassy in Armenia in cooperation with local cultural institutions will present a rich and diverse programs throughout the year, including music, cinema, photography, theater, exhibitions, gastronomy, book art, conferences, etc.
The estimated number of French speaking people counts 274 million in the world, 60% of which are under the age of 30. This states the modernity of language exhaustiveness.
Apart from being a language, which is its cornerstone, Francophone is also a political and economic zone for 84 member and affiliate countries and for governments, who share the following general values such as: solidarity for development, respect for cultural diversity, dominance of rights, peace and democracy.
