“ROSTELECOM” ARMENIA REVIVES VRUBEL՛S PAINTINGS DUE TO MODERN TECHNOLOGIES ON THE STAGE OF YEREVAN STATE OPERA AND BALLET NATIOBAL ACADEMIC THATRE

On March 16, 2018 in the framework of the "Return of the stolen Vrubel" events, the Opera and Ballet National Academic Theater after Alexander Spendiaryan represented a literary and musical performance "Lermontov-Vrubel-Rubensհtein" saturated with modern animation solutions.

The performance combined excerpts from the poem "Demon" by Lermontov and Rubinshtein’s opera of the same name, accompanied by illustrations of Vrubel’s illustrations to the above mentioned poem. The demonstration presented the story of creation "The Demon and the Angel with Tamara’s soul" paining and its "Odyssey".

The most important feature of the performance was demonstration of Vrubel’s paintings in 3D animation format, which helped to fully understand the world and pictures created by the masters of speech and canvas. For the first time all illustrations of the poem “Demon” from different museums were collected and brought together creating a single complete animated picture demonstrated parallels with the literary and musical performances.

Due to “Rostelecom" Armenia sponsorship, literary and musical performance has been visualized with the help of three-dimensional (3D) animation solutions. Later the paintings will be presented in the Museum of Russian Art.

"The return of the stolen painting of Vrubel to Armenia is a significant event for all of us. We are happy for our long term partner, that the collection of the Museum of Russian Art, is now complete, and this masterpiece has been returned to the museum. Being a technological company, it is very important for us to cooperate and support the presentation of cultural values through new solutions. For the first time such animation solutions are presented in Armenia from the stage, new approaches are being formulated, which, I am sure, will contribute to the attractiveness of cultural centers and increase in the number of visitors. I will advise those, who were not present today, to visit the museum and get in touch with art in through technologies”, - noted the CEO of "Rostelecom" Armenia, Hayk Faramazyan.The cooperation resulted with new unprecedented technological solutions for Russian Art Museum. One of them was the special mobile application   that made the angel from Vrubel’s "The demon and the angel with Tamara’s soul" move like in reality attracting to the world created by Vrubel, due to augmented reality (AR) During the exhibition, visitors of the museum will be able not only to watch, but also to capture and save moving images.

It not only strengthens cultural services, but also it is newly represented to the art lovers by new reality. Special design solutions and modern technology possibilities are used here that will take the audience to the magical world of Vrubel’s "Demon", Such innovative solutions it will never leave indifferent even the most whimsy visitors”, - said the Director of the Museum of Russian Art, Marine Mkrtchyan.


"Return of the stolen Vrubel"

The series of events named "Return of the stolen Vrubel" started with the official opening of the exhibition at the Russian Art Museum (Yerevan, 38, Isahakyan), on March 14, with participation of the Minister of Culture of RA, representatives from Tretyakov and Armenian museums.

The charm of the newly opened exhibition is Vrubel’s painting "The demon and the angel with Tamara’s soul", which is famous not only for its artistic and historical value, but also for its criminal odyssey. The exhibition also presents the creation story of the picture, its present day odyssey.

The painting stolen in 1995 from Russian Art Museum (collection professor Aram Abrahamyan) was in search for 22 years and was found by Russian special services, later restored in the Tretyakov Gallery. On November 15, 2017, Vladimir Putin handed the picture to President Serzh Sargsyan within the Days of Armenia in Russia.

The exhibition will be open for public from March 20 to November 20.
