Taking into account the current situation in the world connected with the new type of coronavirus pandemic, this year the national tour of WRO was held in a new hybrid style, online and offline.
This year’s motto for WRO Armenian tour was "#WeWillWin by creating. Our country needs engineering ideas”. This year nine teams participated in the national tour presenting their innovative solutions.
"From the beginning of the year, we all face successive trials, which target children too. Today, more than ever, it is obvious that our country needs engineering ideas, and WRO is one of the best measures taken in that direction. “Rostelecom” is making every effort to ensure the continuity of education and to develop new skills in the necessary areas. We must do everything possible to instill in children love towards science from an early age. Education is the guarantee of a victorious outcome in all spheres”,-mentioned the CEO of “Rostelecom” Armenia Hayk Faramazyan.
Rostelecom has a great contribution to the development of robotics, programming and modeling among children. For the third year in a row, the company has been supporting the tournament, creating opportunities for Armenian children to represent Armenia on international platforms.
Since 2016, Ayb Educational Foundation has been the official representative and organizer of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) in Armenia. The Olympiad promotes the teaching and learning of robotics, programming, engineering in schools, and the involvement of Armenian students in prestigious international competitions and Olympiads. The participating teams design and build a robot model that should be able to solve real-life problems.
"This year full of challenges, I am glad that we were able to find the innovative solutions that allowed our children to participate in the Olympiad as in previous years. Our main task is to do everything possible not to deprive children of the opportunity to learn and create. As a priority, we have not just defined the capacity of robotics and natural sciences, and we do hope that our efforts will bring real benefits to our country and particular spheres. We are sure that the new generation and quality education will bring us new victories, " mentioned the Director of “Ayb” Educational Foundation, Sona Koshetsyan.
This year, teams from MindCenter, Wizcode, and PhysMath NGN educational institutions participated in the national tour of WRO, and the teams performed under names representing Armenia.
