"ROSTELECOM" ARMENIA ORGANIZES SERIES OF ACTIVITIES DEVOTED TO THE INCREASE OF INTERNET LITERACY
On November 30, 2015 "Rostelecom" will hold "Days of Azbuka Interneta in Armenia" devoted to the presentation of the manual "Azbuka Interneta" and the start of open lessons in Armenia.
In particular, on November 30, at 11:00 in the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Yerevan will be held a press-conference, during which the start of the events devoted to the open lessons "Azbuka Interneta" will be officially announced, and for the first time in Armenia a manual will be presented that is specifically designed for Internet users in Armenia.
Advisor to the Russian Embassy in Armenia Oleg V. Shapovalov, Head of the Information and Communication Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communication of Armenia Suren Petrosyan, CEO of CJSC "GNC-ALFA", "Rostelecom" Hayk Faramazyan, Deputy Director of External Communications Department of OJSC "Rostelecom" Yulian Sokolenko, Head of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Yerevan Mark Kalinin, Director of the National Library of Armenia Tigran Zargaryan will be present at the press-conference.
During the event “Rostelecom” will also held the awarding ceremony "Thank You, Internet - 2015" about the personal achievements of Middle Aged people describing people’s individual achievements about computer literacy, organized earlier by "Rostelecom" Armenia.
At 15:00, part of the manuals will be officially handed to the National Library of Armenia.
The start of open classes will be held on December 1 at two universities – Armenian branch of the Russian Economic University after G. V. Plekhanov in Yerevan(5/2 Arzumanyan street, Yerevan) and Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University (123 Hovsep Emini, Yerevan). Open lessons are designed for the older generation and for training volunteer students. Later, in future programs they will conduct lessons of computer literacy themselves for the elderly.
The Manual "Azbuka Interneta"
"Azbuka Internet" is an educational manual for users of older generation. The project was specifically designed and adapted for retired people and people of 55+ age, who start to learn the computer already in adulthood.
Here one can find useful and accessible information not only about computer, the operating system, but also about the Internet, online shopping and applications. “Azbuka Iterneta” includes such interesting topics as "Working with the text", "Folders", "Working with the Internet", "Safe Internet", "Searching for information on the Internet", "Email", "Sites of state bodies", "Social Internet services", "Online shopping".
The manual has been adapted especially for Armenia and here are presented state bodies of Armenia, state services and online services, companies providing public services in the country, news
sites.
About the competition “Thank You, Internet-2015”
More than 2,000 Internet users of Middle Age (50+) from the 78 regions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia, who have learnt how to use a computer and internet on their own or through special computer courses participated in the competition. According to the decision of the Board special prizes were given to three participants of the competition from the Republic of Armenia.
The competition in Armenia was held by “Rostelecom” Armenia with the support of Russian Center for Science and Culture in Yerevan.
Armenia became the first country where local people were allowed to take part in a Russian speaking competition.
