“ROSTELECOM” HOLDS THE NATIONAL TOUR OF WORLD ROBOT OLYMPIAD

The national tour of World Robot Olympiad will take place on September 15 at the “Ayb” school (Tbilisi Highway 11/11, Yerevan). This year 12 teams from Armenia will take part in the Olympiad, and the winner team will get the opportunity to represent Armenia in the international tour of the Olympiad in Thailand, held in November.

The official organizer of the competition in Armenia is “Ayb” Educational Foundation. Since 2016 with the efforts of the foundation the national tour of the World Robot Olympiad has been held in Armenia and they ensured the winners' participation in international tournaments. The sponsor of the 2018 national tour of the Olympiad is “Rostelecom” Armenia.

This year the competition is held under the motto “The Food is Important”, and the participating teams must create robots to help reduce food waste, gather data on land quality of different farmlands, handle the temperature in the ships so that food that is rapidly rotting during food transfer is maintained at appropriate temperature conditions and so on.

Those interested can participate in the program designed for the guests since 16:00 - tour and robots’ demonstration in FabLab, Lego games with Mind Center and Whiz Code Academy, participate in “Ayb” School Lego Lab and dance master classes, enjoy hospitality (buffet, tea, coffee).

About World Robot Olympiad

The aim of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is to unite children and youth from all over the world around the idea of robotics and to develop their creativity, planning and problem solving skills.

The competition was launched in 2004. Today more than 60.000 children and youth aged 6-25 from more than 60 countries participate in the competition annually.

Since 2016 the national tour of the competition has been held in Armenia to promote the teaching of robotics, programming and engineering in the schools of Armenia. The official organizer of the national tour of the competition is “Ayb” Educational Foundation.
